Dr. Clem MejiaA Message from Dr. Clem Mejia

The Kane County Regional Office of Education is dedicated to providing resources to the school community that create a partnership between all shareholders. Our mission is to establish a connection between school, home, community and faith-based organizations to build a new educational system that addresses the individual needs of every student. Technology provides the key to making these connections and on-going professional development supports our plan of delivering new instructional resources that can be used in and beyond school.

Communication and collaboration is essential to our mission of establishing this new learning environment in the county. Our professional development efforts support teachers in utilizing technology and the use of data to deliver differentiated instruction, thereby providing every student with an opportunity to excel.

New Explorations in Learning (NEL) online courses provide an avenue to address these goals and offers teachers the convenience of working at school, home or anywhere they can access our educational portal online.

  • These modules were very helpful. I was really able to clearly see my strengths and weaknesses. I have a clear focus on what I need to do to develop my computer skills.

Background Information

The New Exploration in Learning Courses were created to support teachers in meeting a new set of expectations as outlined by No Child Left Behind. These courses include Data Driven Decisions for Differentiated Instruction, Facilitating Differentiated Instruction and The Internet and the Classroom Teacher. The demand for online courses is growing at an accelerated rate along with the demand to address individual student needs to improve student achievement. The NEL courses report mastery of coursework for each participant through online interactive assessments. Illinois administrators who complete the courses will receive CPDU for their coursework.

The NEL courses provide research-based content by Robin Fogarty and Kinney and Associates. The course content provides a process along with strategies to target and meet the needs of all students that yield rapid and quantifiable results.
